In that same hour He rejoiced and gloried in the Holy Spirit and said, I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have concealed these things [relating to salvation] from the wise and understanding and learned, and revealed them to babes (the childish, unskilled, and untaught). Yes, Father, for such was Your gracious will and choice and good pleasure. All things have been given over into My power by My Father; and no one knows Who the Son is except the Father, or Who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son may choose to reveal and make Him known. Then turning to His disciples, He said privately, Blessed (happy to be envied) are those whose eyes see what you see! 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings longed to see what you see and they did not see it, and to hear what you hear and they did not hear it.
Contemplation
It is so amazing how the Lord impact those who are considered to be unskillful and unlearned with His glorious presence and power, that many who consider themselves to be greater in academic degrees cannot explain how such individuals make a huge difference. It is very important for us to study and go on to accomplish great things, but when this find it hard to make the kind of impact some with lesser degrees of learning do, then we must be careful to grow our walk with God, to get that which the unconventional man got to the praise and glory of the Lord.
You may not be in support of that which I have said, but the truth remains, that this is the truth. Beloved, the Lord in verse 21, thanked the Father for bringing this to pass even among His disciples. He said,
“In that same hour He rejoiced and gloried in the Holy Spirit and said, I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have concealed these things [relating to salvation] from the wise and understanding and learned, and revealed them to babes (the childish, unskilled, and untaught). Yes, Father, for such was Your gracious will and choice and good pleasure.”
If you are really sincere, let me ask you the question. What do you think is strong enough to cause so much rejoicing and gloried in the Holy Spirit in the life of the Lord that made such great difference? What is so great the impact already made that caused the Lord to rejoice with a great difference after these people have been with Him up till this moment? The Lord made an impact in the lives of His people to the extent that it became obvious these people had witnessed a great revolution.
What a glorious news that was made manifest with great rejoicing before the Lord? The Lord was so full of joy that He said “ I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have concealed these things [relating to salvation] from the wise and understanding and learned, and revealed them to babes …” Who was Ge talking about hear?
That which the Lord was rejoicing over many years ago is still making great impact and causing many to continually rejoice even today and will be celebrated forever.
The Lord went on to speak about the things happening in verse 22 when He said,
“All things have been given over into My power by My Father; and no one knows Who the Son is except the Father, or Who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son may choose to reveal and make Him known.”
None of us have the right to argue this with the Lord, for He sees and knows what is happening right now in the midst of His people and only the Lord has the final say.
In verse 23 and 24 the Lord shared with His disciples the joy of His heart, making them to see that this is that which many great servants of the Lord wished they had the opportunity to see, but it was not in their time. This is what happened,
“Then turning to His disciples, He said privately, Blessed (happy to be envied) are those whose eyes see what you see!
24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings longed to see what you see and they did not see it, and to hear what you hear and they did not hear it.”
We are grateful to have the opportunity of walking in the manifestation of the glory that the presence of the Lord has brought to us all, to God be all the glory.
Practical issues
Everyone of us have reasons to be grateful to the Lord for giving us the opportunity to be born in a time like this. If anyone has not come to see this great opportunity, we must do all we can to make the best of the moment. Shalom!
