He who hears and heeds you [disciples] hears and heeds Me; and he who slights and rejects you slights and rejects Me; and he who slights and rejects Me slights and rejects Him who sent Me. The seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name! And He said to them, I saw Satan falling like a lightning [flash] from heaven. Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you. Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are enrolled in heaven.
Contemplation
It is unfortunate that many of us fail to let the Lord use us to accomplish great things simply because we are not careful to discern if this is of God. When the Lord is at work around our lives, except we are sensitive to discern His presence, we will fall to join Him at work. Sometimes we even allow what we claim to be of God to stop us from joining God at work. Beloved, sometimes the Lord decides to give us the opportunity to join Him at work somewhere, but because this is not what we have been used to, we refuse to obey that divine leading. Please be careful how you reach your decision. Sometimes we fall to glorify the Lord simply because we are sentimentally attached to our own decisions. God moves in amazing ways and if we are sensitive to follow Him glorious things will manifest. The word of the Lord in Luke chapter 10 from verse 16 says,
“He who hears and heeds you [disciples] hears and heeds Me; and he who slights and rejects you slights and rejects Me; and he who slights and rejects Me slights and rejects Him who sent Me.”
If you are not sensitive to follow the leading of the Lord, you will miss the opportunity to join the Lord at work. Beloved, when the Lord is speaking through a vessel of His, not a good number of us are able to discern it because the longing of our hearts is not sensitive at that moment.
In verse 17, when the disciples returned, the word of the Lord says,
“The seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name!”
It was through that these really happened but hear what the Lord answered them in verse 18,
“And He said to them, I saw Satan falling like a lightning [flash] from heaven.”
What they saw was the goodnews but the Lord opened their eyes to realize that all of those things happened simply because the Lord frustrated the works of the enemy (satan) through the disciples. And by this the Lord made them to realize in verse 19 when He said,
“Behold! I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you.”
This is so amazing, for this is how the Lord made us to see that when we step out in His name, glorious things happen. They became known as the disciples of the Lord with greater power even before the Pentecostal power was released on them. Simply because they were under the leading of the Lord amazing things happened. Beloved, we must not end here because this may soon fade away like when the Lord was facing crucifixion and all the disciples ran away until the Lord showed up again. But once they were clothed with power from on high, they became bold to face anything. The Lord knows that there is still more for them to encounter and He said to them in verse 20,
“Nevertheless, do not rejoice at this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are enrolled in heaven.”
This is far greater than anything anyone can do here on earth, because until we step into the throne room of heaven, it is not over yet. That is why we must keep working until we made it into the glorious presence of the Lord and year the Lord say, Weldon thou good and faithful servant, enter into the joy of the Lord.”
Practical issues
Lord, help us to walk in the glory and power of your presence until we made it to Heaven in Jesus mighty name. Amen. Shalom!
