Genesis 45:21-25 · AMPC

And the sons of Israel did so; and Joseph gave them wagons, as the order of Pharaoh permitted, and gave them provisions for the journey. 22 To each of them he gave changes of raiment, but to Benjamin he gave 300 pieces of silver and five changes of raiment. And to his father he sent as follows: ten donkeys loaded with the good things of Egypt, and ten she-donkeys laden with grain, bread, and nourishing food and provision for his father [to supply all who were with him] on the way. So he sent his brothers away, and they departed, and he said to them, See that you do not disagree (get excited, quarrel) along the road. 25 So they went up out of Egypt and came into the land of Canaan to Jacob their father,

Contemplation

The Lord our God is without doubt worthy of all the glory and the honor for the opportunity He has given us today and always. There is indeed no one like the Lord our God in all the heavens and the earth. It is a great privilege for us to be counted among the living in a time like this. When Joseph was brought to Egypt, it looked very strange at first, but he made up his mind to learn the language of the land and he became like a little boy trying to understand all that has been happening. It became like the process of growing up in the midst of the Egyptians, but God helped him and he was able to begin a new life all over again. By the time he was now standing before his brothers, so much has changed that it was hard for his brothers to recognize him when he told them “ I am Jospeh .”

By the time he was speaking with them, he had to speak in the Hebrews language and that was how they were so convinced that he was the one in their midst. So, when he was talking with them now, it was time for them to step out to return home with the correct story to change what they once told their father many years back. Right now, they have to share the story as a glorious news, because the child that was once dead, is now alive. Beloved, the message now came through words from his own mouth and it was supported with evidence of the wagon from Pharos of Egypt.

The words from Joseph in verses 21 to 25 became clear words to deal with their fear and the right way to present the good news to their father with greater hope and joy. So the word of the Lord says,

“And the sons of Israel did so; and Joseph gave them wagons, as the order of Pharaoh permitted, and gave them provisions for the journey.

22 To each of them he gave changes of raiment, but to Benjamin he gave 300 pieces of silver and five changes of raiment.”

By the time he gave these gifts to his brother, it became obvious that the Lord has shown them so much love when he decided to leave them alive and blessed Benjamin with amazing gifts. When he went ahead to reach out to his father in verse 23, the word says,

“And to his father he sent as follows: ten donkeys loaded with the good things of Egypt, and ten she-donkeys laden with grain, bread, and nourishing food and provision for his father [to supply all who were with him] on the way.”

It became obvious that the Lord is mightily at work in amazing ways. So, Joseph sent them back to the father with these evidences to convince him. In verses 24 and 25, this were the words spoken,

“So he sent his brothers away, and they departed, and he said to them, See that you do not disagree (get excited, quarrel) along the road.

25 So they went up out of Egypt and came into the land of Canaan to Jacob their father,”

When the Lord went before them, everything begin to fall into place far beyond their understanding. Hallelujah!

Practical issues

The Lord our God knows the end from the beginning, if we are confused in the way, let’s be patient and ask the Lord to guide us through it all. Shalom!
