Isaiah 40:28-31 · AMPC

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding. He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound]. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted; 31 But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

Contemplation

What a glorious opportunity we have to stand before the Lord our God? He stands alone as God and there is no one full of glory and power like Him. The word of the Lord went on to ask the question in verse 28,

“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding.”

The Lord our God is the only one known as the everlasting God, this means before many and afterwords unto eternity He remains God all mighty. He is also known as the Creator of the ends of the earth. The amazing and glorious thing about the Lord is the fact that He does not faint or has reason to grow weary, especially with human’s understanding of growing weary. What a majestic and glorious God we serve. With better understanding of who the Lord is, the writer of Isaiah chapter 40 from verse 29 says,

“He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound].”

The Lord our God has been known to give power to the faint and weary. If the Lord is said to be giving power to the weary, it is obvious that the Lord continually empower the people to keep on living to fulfill Gods divine plan and purpose. To enable those who do not have mighty, the Lord is ready to increase their strength in multiple ways. Thank you Lord for the extraordinary manifestation of your glory in our midst.

According to the word of the Lord in verse 30 and 31,

“Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted;

31 But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.”

In the words of the Lord, those who wait for the Lord shall change and renew their strength. Except we are waiting for the Lord, we might just hang around with lots of our time wasted. They shall begin to mount up their wings like the eagles, they will be able to run and not be weary and walk and not faint. This is simply because the Lord is the one involved here.

Practical issues

When the Lord our God is at work in the battles of life, unusual testimony will begin to take shape and extraordinary circumstances will take shape. Let the Lord guide your leading. Shalom!
