A voice says, Cry [prophesy]! And I said, What shall I cry? [The voice answered, Proclaim:] All flesh is as frail as grass, and all that makes it attractive [its kindness, its goodwill, its mercy from God, its glory and comeliness, however good] is transitory, like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, when the breath of the Lord blows upon it; surely [all] the people are like grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.
Contemplation
The Lord our God is so faithful to His promises. Sometimes it may look like the plan of the evil one has been given a longer time in our calculation but the Lord our God is never late in the fulfillment of His promises. Sometimes we are amazed how the Lord in His mercy decided to step in to turn things around to favor those who could have suffered for a longer time. The Lord our God is indeed God that is full of mercies and great compassion to those who call on Him with a sincere heart. The word of the Lord says in Isaiah chapter 40, reading from verse 6,
“A voice says, Cry [prophesy]! And I said, What shall I cry? [The voice answered, Proclaim:] All flesh is as frail as grass, and all that makes it attractive [its kindness, its goodwill, its mercy from God, its glory and comeliness, however good] is transitory, like the flower of the field.”
This is indeed a serious declaration, and when this soul answered, What shall I cry? It was amazing the answer was “… All flesh is as frail as grass, and all that makes it attractive [its kindness, its goodwill, its mercy from God its glory and comeliness, however good]..” Beloved, when we have the divine opportunity to hear the words of the Lord, we become mightily blessed. The word of the Lord went on to say in verse 7,
“The grass withers, the flower fades, when the breath of the Lord blows upon it; surely [all] the people are like grass.”
This really speaks to us a serious message and as we follow the leading things begin to take shape. In verse 8 it went on to say,
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.”
Hallelujah! The presence of the Lord gives us a great and glorious opportunity to encounter the mercies of the Lord, but it is too important for us to live right at the right time for if we make the mistake to think all will it may become just too late. it is better for us to live right to His praise and glory.
Practical issues
The Lord is merciful and kind, but we must not take this for granted. Live to the praise and glory of God. Shalom!
