Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted; 31 But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.
Contemplation
In the lives of some people, it has become certain that some things cannot remain as they have been. They have become so determined to see it change and if they have to wait for things to take the right shape for their good, they will definitely wait on the Lord.
This scripture calls our attention to the experience the Eagles have to go through during a sensitive moment of their lives (loosing its feathers and waiting for new ones to grow back). When the eagle get to this point, it will hide in a place where it will be carefully positioned because it knows this will become the difficult and weak period of it’s life. That is part of the reason the word of the Lord says in verses 30 and 31,
“Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted;”
31 But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.”
This creature that is involved in this process understands quite well that there is need for this time to be well used if it must survive this challenge. The creature understands that this is a wise and sensitive period that they must not be discovered, because they are vulnerable.
This is why the scripture says, they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. In the period of them waiting they know that, though they have become so vulnerable and they are hiding themselves, their strength is being renewed. As they begin to gain back their strength, the word of the Lord says, they shall run and not be weary. But you see, once their strength is built up, they will be able to walk boldly in the midst of the various challenges of life and they shall never be ashamed. This is simply because they have gone through the season of waiting.
Practical issues
Beloved, if you are going through the season of waiting, be careful where you are right now, don’t let the enemy have access to you and defeat you. Be wise and wait on the Lord until your change comes. Shalom!
