Comfort, comfort My people, says your God. Speak tenderly to the heart of Jerusalem, and cry to her that her time of service and her warfare are ended, that [her punishment is accepted and] her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received [punishment] from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.

Contemplation

Beloved, to our God be all the praise and the glory for all the amazing things He has done and for greater things He will continually do in our lives. Without doubt, great and wonderful things will continue to show forth the majesty and power of His presence. To our God be all the praise in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and redeemer.

In the scripture the word of the Lord in the book of Isaiah chapter 40 from verse 1 says,

“Comfort, comfort My people, says your God.”

If the Lord chooses to speak comforting words to His people, it becomes obvious that there must have been that which has kept that soul or souls from the original plan and purpose of God for their life. Sometimes we may be seen smiling or laughing but it does not mean all is well. Instead of weeping we choose to laugh and as we decided to walk by faith, it pleases the Lord to intervene. The word of the Lord in verse 2 says,

“Speak tenderly to the heart of Jerusalem, and cry to her that her time of service and her warfare are ended, that [her punishment is accepted and] her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received [punishment] from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.”

It is amazing that the Lord decided to speak tenderly to the heart of Jerusalem. But when it is time to address her service, there was the sound of crying heard that her warfare are ended. This is the obvious dawn of a glorious new beginning and that is why the voice of a cry was chosen to announce the dawn of a new beginning. Why was this necessary? It simply means that her punishment is accepted and her iniquity has been pardoned by the Lord Almighty. This is really the release of unusual glory and it is indeed a great blessing for us to wait on the Lord. From the Lord our God comes real mercy forever and ever. Hallelujah.

Practical issues

The Lord our God is indeed worthy to be praised and adored and to Him be all glory and the praise. Shalom!
